SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SKIN CARE

Hello Beautiful, Intelligent, Smart women (YES! You). While you are working extremely hard to achieve whatever you dreams you have, I will be here to give you tips on how to maintain your beautiful skin. (As you know! All na packaging)

LET US BEGIN!
It is necessary to understand your skin and what your skin is begging to have. There are different skin types; Dry skin, Combination skin (a mixture of dry and oily) and Oily skin.  So, it is necessary to know what category you fall under.

I made a lot of mistakes, one of which was using the same cream I applied on my body on my face, CHAI! (MY POOR FACE) I began to have numerous dark spots and blackheads. (I will discuss the difference between dark spots and blackheads in my next post) I started to break out and I had discolorations to the extent that my face was two shades darker than the rest of my body.

My body was glowing as I mixed a bunch of organic ingredients ( I will let you guys in on that one in my next post), but my face was suffering.
As we all know or are supposed to know, our face is more sensitive than the rest of our body. Your face is likely to react to any product either positively or negatively.

I put together a skin care routine and it's in three steps
Exfoliating, Face Wash, Cleansing and Moisturizing. So here goes...

NINA'S SKIN CARE ROUTINE

EXFOLIATING

I cannot stress how important it is to exfoliate your face! Now let me explain why; Let’s say you go outside where the sun decides to bless you, add the dust and sweat! You get back home, wipe your face then wash up. And that seems like a perfectly decent beauty routine, the muck that all these elements left on your face are properly cleansed right? Wrong! All the dirt is exactly where you left it or at least 80% of it is still there.
Exfoliating your skin helps get rid of dead and dull surface layer of the skin.

WHAT DO I USE TO EXFOLIATE?

I love me some Eden Extra Whitening Apricot Face & Body Scrub. OMD! This stuff is amazing! Patience…however is key as it will take some time before you start to see results. OHH AND DON’T BE SO SCARED IT DOESN’T BLEACH hehe ;-)

But, I’ll do you guys a favor and explain what the whitening means. When you have a sunburn and you are African you develop dark spots.(not blackhead) They are round circles that resemble a “discoloration” or “patches.” Now what the “whitening” element does is that it clears these dark spots and restores your face back to your regular skin tone.
You can purchase this product in Medplus or HealthPlus if you are in Nigeria.

P.S- YOU EXFOLIATE TWICE A WEEK, NOT EVERYDAY!!

FACE WASH
WHAT DO I USE TO WASH MY FACE?

Wash your face after exfoliating with a good soap made specifically for the face and please do not use a sponge or a face towel when doing this. If you have a sensitive skin I will advise that you use this exact product because it contains less than “1% Salicylic” (which can be very harsh to the skin) it’s called Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Super fruit Wash.
Please and I cannot stress this enough, do not use the same soap you use for your body on your face.
You can purchase this product in Medplus or HealthPlus if you are in Nigeria… CVS or Walgreens if you reside in the U.S.

CLEANSING

Beautiful ladies let me tell you a secret! No matter how much you wash your face with a face wash (God forbid sponge) it will still have a good amount of dirt on it.

Cleansers do a good job in removing the remaining dirt. Cotton pads are more suitable for cleansers as they are wide and flat. Cleansing restores your ph balance which in return reduces the chances of you breaking out.

MOISTURIZING
Funny thing about moisturizing is that most females skip this step and go straight to makeup. We prime our faces feeling assured that we have done a great job in caring for our skin.

The problem however is, our faces are left dry after cleansing and primers do not do a good job of adding the much needed moisture to our skin.
As I mentioned earlier your skin type matters a lot and you buy a moisturizer based on your skin type; Moisturizers for oily skin helps to maintain your natural PH balance and contains shine-reducing properties.

So my darlings having said all that, I should let you know what I use(HeHe)….

most of you are wondering why Johnson baby lotion. It’s pretty simple really, this brand of baby product has a reduced amount of chemicals compared to most leading moisturizers and for my face it does a wonderful job of keeping it smooth and soft. I tend to use my Johnson when I break out. If you are new to the whole skincare routine I would advise that you start with Johnson's baby cream since it isn’t harsh on the skin.

As for the Olay I use it simply because of the spf 15(sun protector factor) although I would advise that you get a higher spf ( such as 30 or 50) if you live in Nigeria or anywhere with a hot climate.

THANK YOU DOLLS FOR TAKING TIME TO READ! PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR MY NEXT POST : )
